Le Village du Bois is ideally situated for golf breaks with five courses located within a one hour drive. The quality and variety is excellent while the approach taken at the various courses is, within reason, pretty relaxed in respect of clothing and footwear. All venues hire clubs and buggies and it is also possible to combine your golf with some very good food.

Port Bourgenay Golf

Our ‘home course, Port Bourgenay is located just five minutes from Le Village and, as the name suggests, is situated right on the Atlantic Coast. It offers two 18-hole courses; one a full length championship venue combining the originality of a sea side atmosphere, national forest and a high angle view over the marina. Created in 1990, this is 5,845m (6,400 yards) long and par 72. The second (par 54) course offers an (in France) unique good length pitch & putt, enabling players of all levels, family and informal groups to practice their short game whilst having fun. The complex also offers a golf driving range, practice area, putting green and chipping area.

Golf des Olonnes

The par 73, 18-hole 6,063m (6,630 yard) Golf des Olonnes is situated in a natural setting of the Vendée bocage. It extends over a slightly undulating site with beautiful stretches of water – also offering panoramic views. Just 3 km from the famous seaside resort of Les Sables d’Olonne, it is attractive to, reasonable and suitable for golfers of all handicaps. It also offers a driving range and putting green.

La Domangere Golf

Offering an exceptional diversity of game-strokes, this inland course is described by its owners as ‘an inescapable rendezvous for golfers seeking new challenges’. The 18-hole, par 72 course over 6,422 m (just over 7,000 yards) offers a variety of water hazards and a tranquil environment. Created in 1987 it also offers a driving range, practice ground, putting green, chipping green and 4 ‘compact holes’.

Golf les Fontanelles

The Fontenelles Golf Course (created in 1989) threads its way through a delightful wooded landscape. Renowned for its strong regional character, it provides a pleasant succession of water obstacles, maritime pines and oaks. The par 72, 18-hole course is 6,195 m (6,775 yards) long. It also offers an excellent 25 station (10 under cover) driving range and putting green.

Golf Saint Jean de Monts

This beautiful 18-hole par 72, 5,192m (5,800 yard) course is styled on a traditional Scottish links basis and was ranked 29th out of the 597 in France by Golf Europeén. In an exceptional coastal location, it is considered to be the finest course on the west coast of France. It is open and playable throughout the year, The front 9 holes wind through a natural pine forest while the back 9 are close to the beach with great views of the ocean and the Ile d’Yeu, and there are numerous water hazards. The undulating fairways are an excellent test for technical golfers.

Other nearby options

Just over an hour away is the La Pree links at Marsilly, La Rochelle. This 18-hole, par 72 course suits players of all standards. Its 5,931m (just under 6,500 yard) length offers wide fairways, well-guarded sloping greens and the links format means that it has many bunkers and little protection from the onshore sea breezes.

Golf Niort in Niort Romagne is a par 71, 5,868m (just under 6,420 yard) flat course which overlaps with the neighbouring racecourse. Its well defended greens, bunkers, ponds and narrow fairways make it interesting and technically demanding. It also offers practice facilities including a 20 station driving range.
