This, aptly named, five-bedroom gîte occupies half of the traditional 19th century grange farmhouse. It is exceptionally spacious and has been extensively modernised and renovated.
You enter La Salle des Fétes via its own, very large, private, west facing terrace which offers views of the Vendéen countryside and, in the evenings, the spectacular sunsets. It is the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine, read a book or enjoy eating in the ‘plein air’!
The large double French doors lead to a huge open plan dining/living area with exposed Charentaise stone walls, French oak beams and tiled floors throughout. This has a large dining table and stocked bookshelves. To the right is a second, equally large but more relaxed space with two comfortable settees/ sofabeds and a large screen TV with DVD player. It has a supply of books and games for when you just need to unwind; there is ample comfortable seating for all.
On the other side of the gite through a double action door is the large kitchen. This has all the space and equipment for modern day living; including a large double sink and drainer, four burner hob, fan oven, microwave, large fridge, dishwasher, extensive work surfaces, ample storage and all the pots, pans and utensils needed for your self-catering holiday. It accommodates another large dining table and chairs. It benefits from its own south facing external door and window views to open countryside.
To the rear of the kitchen is the generous, modern bathroom with double hand-basins, standard and two wet-rooms (one super-sized) both with jet and rain water effect showers plus two private toilets.
From the two lounge areas you have access to both ground and first floor bedrooms – all of which feature exposed beams, pillars and stonework, storage and hanger space, bedside cabinets, reading lamps and a fan. The ground floor triple bedroom (1) is generously sized with space for three single beds. Bedroom 2, also on the ground floor, is an attractive twin room designed around a central pillar.
All three upstairs (double/twin) bedrooms have their own separate individually designed open tread pine staircase and access. Bedroom 3 faces west overlooking the terrace and offers lovely views of the local countryside. Bedrooms 4 and 5 are individually shaped with their own features and velux windows.
The two large sofa beds in the main living area mean that up to 15 people can be comfortably accommodated at any one time.
Extra warmth for the cooler months is provided by electric wall heaters throughout the gîte’s main living areas. In line with our eco-friendly approach, hot water is supplied by solar powered and electric boilers and is, thus, plentiful at all times.
La Salle des Fétes shares the large (10m x 5m) swimming-pool (which is security fenced) and associated play and park areas with the other gîtes. It has its own private access to the pool directly from the terrace.
Please note: all gîtes are non-smoking and, unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate pets.
The accommodation exceeded our already high expectations; the stone pillars and beams gave a lovely rustic feel. Lovely and clean and extremely well equipped. The pool was a big hit. The owner, John, did everything possible to ensure we had a good stay. Restaurants and beaches were great. Would whole-heartedly recommend this place. We had a memorable holiday! Tom Potter (2019)
I just wanted to say what an amazing holiday we all had at your gorgeous place. It had everything we wanted and we all had a holiday to remember. We are already planning to come back in 2020 for 2 weeks. Will definitely be recommending to our friends. Caroline Baugh (2018)
We had a wonderful time thank you and really enjoyed our stay. We hope to see you again in the future. Sam Wheeler (2017)
