Property description

Renovated to a very high standard, this stylish gîte offers three double/twin bedrooms plus one directly adjacent double/twin/triple with en-suite accommodation), two further bathrooms, large open plan living/dining area and a separate kitchen.

The core gite space features glazed front doors set within a larger glass frontage and retains the ancient French oak barn doors. These lead to the open plan living area which, in addition to the great aspect, has warm real wood floors exposed beams and the original stone walls. A large screen TV and DVD player is located in this space.

Beyond this there is an open plan dining area with seating for eight immediately adjacent to a separate fitted. well-equipped kitchen. This has a sink and drainer, four burner hob, microwave, large fridge, dishwasher, work surfaces, and the pots, pans and utensils needed for your self-catering holiday. At the rear of the gite are the two separate bathrooms with ‘power-showers’, hand-basins and toilets.

Individually designed open tread staircases lead up to the generous first floor bedrooms; each in its own format featuring French oak beams plus vellux windows. Two of the three can be set up either as double or twin rooms – the other is a twin.

Bedroom 1 overlooks the gîte terrace and countryside and, along with bedroom 3 offers completely private space while bedroom 2 located above the dining room/ lounge has a more open plan staircase and is ideal for accommodating younger children while adults relax below. Each has open and hanger based storage plus bedside cabinets, reading lamps and a fan.

The en-suite double/twin/triple bedroom has its own bathroom, TV/DVD player, small kitchen space (with small fridge, 2 hobs etc.) plus a small dining table and chairs.

Extra warmth for the cooler months is provided by electric wall heaters in the main living areas. In line with our eco-friendly approach, hot water is supplied by solar powered and electric boilers and is, thus, plentiful at all times.

Outdoors, La Lumière Est has its own east facing terrace enabling guests to, as they choose, enjoy breakfast in the sun or relax in the shade – with the linked discrete smaller patio serving the additional ground floor bedroom. It also has, added in 2019, its own new garden and dining area which gets the sun throughout the day and evening.

It shares the pool (which is security fenced) plus play and parkland spaces with the other gîtes.

We has a great time at Le Village du Bois, with loads of activities for the family close to the gite it was perfect for us and our three children. The pool topped things off at the beginning and end of every day. David (2019).

Very nice vacation rental for a family. Very neat interior, very good bedding. John very welcoming and attentive. Before the rental John answered all of our questions. Quiet place for rest assured. Shared, heated and clean swimming pool with deckchairs provided by rental. Very appreciable. Not overlooked with the terraces which is pleasant. The house is very clean and everything works perfectly. John’s welcome at the top, always attentive, little touches awaited us in the fridge. Bicycles available, barbecues, a rugby ball loaned to young people, a place to play pétanque, umbrellas to be able to eat outside. Very quiet place, not a noise on the other hand you need a car to go shopping or go there by bike. Thank you John on behalf of the whole family for your welcome and the quality of the rental. Super gîte pour un super séjour. Au calme, à deux pas de la plage et de la ville de Talmont, le gîte est un vrai havre de paix. Les enfants peuvent jouer à l’extérieur sans crainte de la circulation. La piscine est au pied du gîte et l’espace intérieur est parfait pour 12 personnes (6 adultes et 6 enfants). Le hangar attenant permet d’entreposer les vélos qui nous ont permis de nous rendre à la plage du Veillon. Nous avons eu une super communication avec John qui a été disponible et arrangeant pour notre séjour. Nous recommandons vivement ce lieu. Patrick (2021)
